Amalgamate | The Collaboration Engine

/əˈmalɡəˌmāt/ -

verb

combine or unite to form one organization or structure.

One of the most frustrating things in the world is networking, especially for designers as most of us are notoriously introverted. Amalgamate seeks to change that by creating a way of finding other artists to collaborate and design with, because that is fundamentally what we all end up doing, designing a product or service with others.

Went for a simple design although it required several sketched iterations before settling on this. The main idea was to leverage the function of the form, but still use the graphical language of the app, the branching tabs.

We're trying to avoid calling it a social network. Our pitch guys are calling it a Linkedin for designers. We like to think of it as less as a social network and more of a center for design. The app (and web app) would act as a central hub to watch development of designs that are showcased, some of which through live streaming via twitch and youtube integration. There are two prime components:

1) A live hub for watching design being created and shown.

2) A place for designers, new and seasoned, to find people to collaborate with and create new works.
